Make Lasting Memories at Your Martial Arts School Picnic
Summer can be a double-edged sword for martial arts schools. When the weather is good, fewer students want to stay inside to train when they can be enjoying outdoor activities like swimming, boating, volleyball, and more. On the positive side, it can also be an opportunity to take advantage of the weather by training outdoors.
A couple of easy examples are to send your students on a short jog outside your school every night as part of your warm-up exercises, or to actually teach class outside (especially in the evening) once a week or so. Just give everyone advanced warning, so they can bring appropriate shoes.
Another way to take advantage of the nice weather is to plan a school picnic at a local park, pool, or lake. It’s a great way to spend more time outside of class getting to know each other, and a great way to recruit more students.
Your students can bring friends, plus you can teach a class in the park and invite any onlookers to take a trial lesson. You can play picnic games or traditional sports, and offer prizes like a FREE Week to all guests, or sell Enrollment Cards. Another way to get to know each other is to have a talent contest at the picnic (and offer similar prizes).
A well-planned picnic will cement the relationships between your students and your school, and create memories that last throughout the year.
