Take Advantage of the Chinese New Year

It may have happened to you in the past – there you are minding your own business, when all of a sudden you hear thousands of firecrackers going off. At first, you don’t know if it’s gunfire or what. When you investigate, you see a large group of people, usually with someone doing the Lion Dance, and you realize it is a celebration of the Chinese New Year.

This year, let’s plan ahead. Instead of watching the festivities, why not participate in the festivities and invite new students into your school? Chinese New Year is Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

If your school practices a Chinese art, this promotion is a natural. You may even teach some of your students the Lion Dance, and your school and students can be the featured performers at various locations around town. Chinese businesses might even pay you for the celebration.

If you are not that familiar with the specific traditions, do some research. Find the local organizations that do the Lion Dance, and offer to work with them. They can do the dance, and you can do the martial arts demonstration. If there is a large celebration in your community, see if you can be part of the show.

Prepare a short demo, maybe 5 to 10 minutes, and bring lots of FREE Week cards to give out to the crowd of bystanders. If they like what they see, and they are interested in Asian culture, you will get quite a few new students.

Contact your AMS marketing consultant at 1-800-275-1600 to ask about FREE Week cards or if you need advice on how to present a short but powerful demo.
