A Case Study of one of our Fans:

Atlanta Taekwondo & Skillz

Master John Salama is a dedicated martial artist, instructor, business owner, husband, and father. His journey started back the Middle East in Egypt where he and his family are from. While he was still a child, his family decided to move to United State to escape from religious bulling. Also his father wanted a career for himself and a better future for his family, which he was able to provide soon after they became established in the states. At the time John was still a young boy and had no idea his martial art journey was about to begin. One day at the Kroger’s Supermarket in his local town, the family decided to enter a raffle. The Salama family where the lucky winners. Two choices were presented to them, but the one they picked changed John’s direction in life. The family had won 2 years subscription for only $99 per year at a local Taekwondo School. John started class and fell in love with the art.

Martial arts taught him to have disciple, a strong mind and body, to believe in himself, and gave him essential life tools to confront anything that would come his way. He started at 11, and by 14 he became assistant teacher in the studio, and by the age of 18 he opened his own school called Salama’s Taekwondo. He sold the school 2 years later to focus on his studies to become an Electrical Engineer. He was committed to his studies and believed in creating his own opportunities in life. He worked as an engineer for about 6 years and during that time fell in love with Jennifer, who was a committed dancer, martial artist, and physiologist. They married and decided to take a calculated leap of faith and pursue their love for martial arts by opening Atlanta Taekwondo School in Georgia.

It started with one location, then a second. While the second one took off strong, the first location’s demographic had changed and they decided to direct all of their effort on one big and successful school. They are now in a 7,000 sq. ft. space where the hold traditional Choong Sil Kwan Taekwondo lessons, a powerful after school and summer camp program, as well as the Skillz Fit Workout program. Their school is large enough to accommodate multiple training floors at the same time. Their team focuses on giving all the tools and knowledge to empower the youth for their future. They also believe it’s never too late to better yourself, so they reach out to families and adults. Their curriculum has proven to make a positive impact in the lives of their students.

Masters John and Jennifer Salama feel privileged to be a husband and wife team that gets to live their passion with their two children, ages 15 and 17, who are also instructors. They love the life they lead every day, surrounded by people who share their passion. By their example, they have given hope, strength, and power to people to go for their dreams by getting out of a bad situations and turning them around for so much better. They have turned timid, quiet, and bullied kids into courageous, outgoing young leaders who can stand up for what they believe. They have given the gift of focus and concentration to kids that were failing in school, helping them get into honor’s classes. They value the great friendships they have developed within their school and community, and are proud to have the opportunity to make a difference not only in their martial arts school, but also in this world!
