Research: Is Martial Arts an Answer to Bullying?

A research study has been conducted by Macquarie University in Australia related to participating in martial arts as a means to deal with bullying. A 10 week program was conducted by lead researcher Dr. Brian Moore using 5 schools including a total of 283 students in the study. The program consisted of each child being taught theory and moving from a white belt to a yellow belt throughout the study. The results were compared with a control group. The results were “overwhelmingly positive” showing that children practicing martial arts are better equipped to deal with aggressive behavior.
