A firefighter in Takoma, Maryland used his MMA training to thwart a carjacker on July 28. Diego Peclat, 35, was standing next to an ambulance parked outside Washington Adventist Hospital around 6:30 a.m. when Christopher Broadus, 27, climbed into the ambulance and attempted to drive the vehicle. Broadus, who has a criminal history of drug use, had just attempted to assault a nurse at the entrance of the hospital before the welterweight fighter interfered and told him to get back to his hospital bed.
