Grandmaster Antionette Chavez was a hugely successful tournament competitor who participated in more than 300 events and won first place 195 times. Although the Takai Mine Karate school opened in 1985 and has been open since, in 1990 she opened her first full-time martial arts school location. The school has promoted more than 160 first degree black belts and the current enrollment after COVID-19 restrictions and bouncing back is at 100 active students.
