MAWN: What’s it like being a role model for young women? DL: I’m honored to be considered a role model for young women because my own youth was very difficult. I came from a broken family. My parents divorced. Many children grow up without parents, of course. I always like to say, ‘We don’t choose the country that we are born in and the parents who raise us, but what we choose is which way we want to go, to be positive, and to help others.’ That belief helped me to become a champion.
