In general, people in our society are not allowed to use force against one another. The American Heritage Dictionary defines force: 1) to compel through pressure or necessity, 2a) to gain by the use of force or coercion, 2b) to move or effect against resistance or inertia, 2c) to inflict or impose relentlessly. There are two basic types of force within the context of the law: deadly and non-deadly or less than deadly force. For the purpose of this article and the type of techniques that will be shown, we will concentrate on non-deadly force techniques.
