MAWN: Grandmaster Lee, you are an extremely successful business leader with three big, beautiful schools that have over 2,700 members. What, in your experience, is the secret to success in a martial arts school? Lee’s strategy was to open his school near a McDonald’s, believing that they shared similar demographics. SL: There is no secret—just hard work. I have also been able to work together with my son who is a second-generation Korean. My ideas and philosophy are very traditional and his ideas are fresh and innovative, which makes a great mix. I have always had a different philosophy for operating a dojang. I do not rent any of my
